There are new Extra Ordinary Christmas cards in the store! I know it’s still ages until Christmas but postage gets hectic in November so you should order yours soon. Go on.
- pyth17 Aug '11
like* ^^
- Jesse17 Aug '11
I love how much thoughts/emotion come across in two little eyes lol, these should be turned into cartoons
- delta17 Aug '11
little li knew bad words!
- Blue17 Aug '11
As good as always :) Keep it up.
- Blue17 Aug '11
And what about the verbs cut, put, and some more I can not remember?
Your work is as good as always :) keep it up - Max17 Aug '11
:P you were like me, except i was 13
- Shoefreak17 Aug '11
YOUNG SHOELACE!
- Kaze17 Aug '11
ಠ_ಠ Such profanity you are uttering
- jozef17 Aug '11
but its read different! lol
- Jake17 Aug '11
You know what else is confusing about English are the homophones: accept - except, etc. But "read" is definitely one of the more what-the-fuck prone words being that it is a heteronym (same spelling; different pronunciation).
Honorable mentions: tire (fatigue, wheel), fluke (many meanings)
Boner Jamz~ - vili17 Aug '11
And yet, the past tense of "lead" is spelled "led".
Someone should hit English spelling on the head with a lead pipe... - eric17 Aug '11
Little Li is so angry. And awesome.
- G+1?17 Aug '11
You should hand draw a G+1 button and add it to this page.
- Jessie17 Aug '11
Comb. Tomb. Bomb.
What is this, English? What are you doing? - Pat17 Aug '11
Of course little Li knew bad words. When studying languages, most everyone learns those first. Take high school Spanish...
- Maya Posch18 Aug '11
*hugs the 6-year old Li-chan*
Sorry, couldn't resist :) - John18 Aug '11
You make me giggle
- Kilby18 Aug '11
@ Blue - Thanks for mentioning "cut". Several of my German friends have expressed admiration for the verb "put", because it is invariant across all three of the standard forms (present, past, and participle). Now I have a second example that I can cite.
P.S. @ Jake - One of the nastiest "heteronyms" is "bow", which has multiple pronunciations and meanings (as verb or noun, respectively). - Micah18 Aug '11
Love you! English does suck, and I'm from the US. hehehehe
- Aden Bufton18 Aug '11
Haha! :D D'aww 6 year old li :) not changed much ;D
- amirhossein18 Aug '11

- Phantasmagoria18 Aug '11
I just realized when your first and last name is put together it makes lichen! :D
- Ashely18 Aug '11
Loves. I am a teacher and just told an 8 year old the same thing! Poor little guy was so confused.
- linsey18 Aug '11
long-time reader, first-time commenter! i love your work, but this is by far my favorite of your comics. oh man, super great job! :)
- Nojh18 Aug '11
Aww! Six year old Li is cuter than Li! (Cause she is tiny!) I wonder what six year old shoelace looks like.
- twelvedaysold18 Aug '11
Aaahaha, that's hilarious. So excited about the Christmas cards!
- Lisetta18 Aug '11
If that happens with people who speak the language since kids, what is left for the one who is learning it?
I agree with her about some verbs, WTF? - Vernon18 Aug '11
I still haven't read all your comics, but I loved the ones that I have. They're amazing, not to mention awesome style. Keep up the good work Li!
- Anonamousey18 Aug '11
Wow, you really haven't grown that much taller since six? The only difference is a head and a bow! XD
- acce24518 Aug '11
And can you guess how we pronounce Reading, PA? What about Worcester, MA? Louisville, KY? Ahhh, English. Draught and Draft, Daughter and Laughter, etc etc etc.
- Shana18 Aug '11
you are my favorite part of the internet :]
- Don18 Aug '11

- Impshum19 Aug '11
Weather or not the weather is good. What a farce! x
- Tezzie19 Aug '11
@ Impshum.. It's actually "Whether or not the weather is good"
They pronounced the same but spelt different.. So damn confusing!
I loled at little li, cutest comic yet! - Russell19 Aug '11

- Ryan19 Aug '11
Discovered you on Reddit today! Now that I have spent my work day productively (reading every single comic of yours) I am a big fan!
- RASIS19 Aug '11
OMG.... NEW DESKTOP!!!
- Matt19 Aug '11
Just found you today through reddit! You have another addicted fan now. Hi from New York!
- aaron19 Aug '11
We are now going to need more Little Li comics
- Isi19 Aug '11
Totally loved this comic today and couldn't agree more. The English language is a strange thing indeed.
- PheonixGRX19 Aug '11
Li, you seem smart, so here is a project I would like you to do. Find out how to pronounce the letters 'ough' as one. It's not as easy as it looks. Heres some words on why that is.
Though
Through
Cough
Rough
Enough
Everyone can try this too. - Penguin19 Aug '11
I thought I had already found the best webcomics on Internet. You are Extra Ordinary.
Too bad I don't wanna facebook account so can't see your additional stuff. :( - Ace19 Aug '11
Kinda like extra ordinary vs extraordinary
- SordidEuphemism20 Aug '11
Don't get me started on the size difference between 'little' and 'big'.
- Meredith20 Aug '11
That still screws me up sometimes!
- Emma20 Aug '11
You're probably my most favourite person on the face of the planet. Just sayin'.
- RASIS20 Aug '11
Agree w/ Aaron... more Little Li! She's hillarious when she swears!
- Sydnee22 Aug '11
I almost died laughing in the middle of the airport.
- shiNIN22 Aug '11
The first picture is a true moe masterwork. I'm always amazed how you can draw such very simple and at the same time, very cool stuff...
Read never troubled me. I have zillion other things I dislike in English. For example, the zillion (much much more than 3)tenses and genders. A language doesn't need them :D
But English isn't my first language. - Edwin23 Aug '11
Lolz... I like how the outfit was the same, only smaller...
- Marielle23 Aug '11
I love all of your comics. It turns out my boyfriend read (teehee) all of these.
Hello Jacob :D - Feeby Neko24 Aug '11
So cute. :) *giggle*
- emf26 Aug '11
Hi I'm 6 what's this?

*Ahem* Yes. - Chase29 Aug '11
I'm just not sure if my friend Danny is like you or if your like here. It's just crazy
- rich30 Aug '11
just saw this website on reddit. quickly became one of my fav webcomics. great work. this comic in particular is gold.
- Val8 Sep '11
Just like Kansas ans Arkansas, why doesn't the latter sound like Pirate Kansas? ArrrKansas, it has to be different! and I didn't even know! :(
- Nikki14 Sep '11
It's the same with "Live in the world" and "Live performances" I drives me nuts!
- Elyse19 Sep '11
Yep, English makes no sense.... :(
- AtmaDragoon9 Oct '11
Ha ha, yeah I still think the read/read thing is weird. But everything else looks wrong for that past tense. ;_;
- Trobby10 Nov '11
It is also pronounced the same as red.
- Angel11 Mar '12
You know, grammar and spelling gets me confused too, Li..
- M5 Jul '12
English spelling and pronunciation, is terribly inconsistent.
just look at through, rough, and ought for example :( - Golux22 Apr '13
And then you start doing crossword puzzles and get ensnared in the true morass of multiple meanings, idiom and colloquialisms that a portmanteau language like English entails. It's highly extensible, often imports foreign words in droves, and then sometimes assigns them new meanings.
- Justin19 Feb '15
Read and Red, or Read and Reed, but not Red and Reed. Garg.
